Privacy policy

Acquire is a language learning app made by Acquire For Life. This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: your learning record stays on your device, Talk is hosted by default after you agree, and we do not track you or sell anything about you.

Data stored on your device

Your chosen languages, saved words, conversation history and progress stay on your iPhone or iPad. We do not sync this record to the cloud. Deleting the app deletes it.

Hosted Talk

Talk is hosted by default. After you agree in the app, the audio you speak and the text you type or select go to OpenAI on Acquire's API key, not yours. Acquire does not save your raw audio. OpenAI processes this data under its own privacy policy and retention rules. If you do not agree, you can still browse your saved words and conversations, but you cannot start a new conversation.

Talk time

Hosted Talk includes 90 seconds a day, plus optional hour packs bought with Apple In-App Purchase. The meter is keyed to an app-generated device identifier, the Talk device token, not to an email or Apple ID. Acquire's server stores that token, millisecond counters, App Store transaction IDs, and session state. It does not store SDP, the prompt, the transcript, or audio.

Your own OpenAI key

Settings, then Advanced, lets you paste your own OpenAI project key. That path sends audio and text to your OpenAI project instead, and does not use Acquire's meter. The key stays in the device Keychain and is never sent to Acquire.

Current events

The current events theme sends search terms from the conversation to OpenAI web search. Those terms are not linked to a profile.

Optional account

An account is optional and off unless you turn it on later.

What we do not do

• No advertising and no tracking across apps or websites.
• No analytics SDKs and no sale of personal data.
• No claims about what you have learned beyond what your own conversations show.

Children

Acquire is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
